Our Story

I got my first pair of guinea pigs when I was 8. Until then, I had cats, dogs, hamsters, and other small critters. It was my two first babies - Mocha and Cream that I fell in love with guinea pigs. In 2018, I was introduced to the world of other cavy owners and fanatics. I began learning more and starting to make new friends and connections. We began rescuing and accepting private surrenders around late 2019. In 2023, we decided to open our rescue to the public, picking the name “Cavy Cafe.” The name was inspired by my first two pigs, along with my very first Californian to my then small herd, a self-red, black pointed sow later named Cappuccino. We typically only work with guinea pigs and occasionally rabbits, but we will accept other small critters under particular circumstances. We take pride in knowing our animals are happy and healthy here. We are experienced in raising pups, caring for pregnant mothers, taking care of sick animals, caring for both young and old, really anything you can think of, we can handle it! We started rescuing as a way to help people and allow their animals a second chance, and we have loved it. This is a safe, judgment-free zone, and we strive to stay open-minded regardless of the situation
